Engagement on Ice at Rockefeller Center - Brides.com

RINK AT ROCKEFELLER CENTER’S “ENGAGEMENT ON ICE” GIVES COUPLES OPTION TO APPEAR ON BRIDES.COM

Proposals Scheduled From November 29 – December 2 Can Be Filmed and Posted Online As Part of Growing Trend in Wedding Documentation

The Rink at Rockefeller Center and Brides.com today announce that “Engagement on Ice” has opened for the season, with a special window this year between November 29 – December 2 during which proposals will be videotaped and posted on Brides.com. Engagement on Ice is a program which allows prospective grooms to plan their wedding proposals on the ice at Rockefeller Center, giving them the rink to themselves with their sweethearts for the special moment.

Brides.com, the Rink’s partner in the engagements and the premier destination website from Condé Nast Bridal Media, will give couples the option to have their proposals that occur during the five day period filmed and posted online. This will allow all couples to visually share their news with friends, family and other future brides and grooms. These proposals will be on Brides.com in mid-December for online visitors to view and vote for their favorite among the selected proposals. Both voters and the online proposal couples will be entered to win a luxury honeymoon vacation. Space is limited for couples who wish to have their “Engagement on Ice” proposal filmed during the five-day period; interested parties can visit www.brides.com/engagementonice to see video proposals from last year and further details.

The Ice Rink at Rockefeller Center is one of the most famous and romantic settings in New York; it set the stage for over 150 happy couples’ engagements last year. The "Engagement on Ice" package ensures that everything is smoothly in place for the big moment. It offers front-of-the-line access ensuring that the lucky couple can head straight onto the ice for a romantic spin around the Rink. As the session ends, the other skaters will disappear, leaving the couple alone on the ice. ‘Their song’ will begin to play, setting the scene for the perfect proposal. Once she says ‘yes,’ The Rink staff can deliver a bouquet to the new affianced couple before the couple takes one last lap on the ice. To complete the experience, the two toast to their good fortune at the rink-side restaurant Rock Center Café before receiving an exclusive, celebratory Brides.com gift bag valued at over $500.

Brides.com Editor in Chief Theresa DiMasi said, “The documentation of engagement proposals is an exciting new trend and we’re thrilled to be on the scene for the second year in a row to capture that special moment in two people’s lives. The online availability of this special partnership allows people from around the world to share the joy of engagement; last year over 12,000 people voted for their favorite ‘Engagement on Ice’ and almost a million logged on to watch the proposals.”

The cost of “Engagements on Ice” is $200, all inclusive. Reservations are required and availability is limited. The package includes:

Front-of-the-line access for two with complimentary skating passes and rentals.
Signature ‘song’ played during or after the proposal (music provided by proposer).
The option to drop off flowers that can be skated out and presented to new fiancée.
Private time on the ice for proposal and ‘victory lap.’
A champagne toast at rink-side restaurant Rock Center Café.
An exclusive Brides.com gift bag (with an approximate retail value of $500) including gifts from Bed Bath & Beyond, Dylan’s Candy Bar, East Six Design, Enspri, Fishs Eddy, Godiva Chocolatier, Oneida, Prescriptives, Wee Card Company, and more.
The opportunity to have free, online footage of “Engagement on Ice” proposal if scheduled between November 29 and December 2.
Located off of Fifth Avenue, between 49th and 50th streets, The Rink first opened on Christmas Day in 1936 as the premier artificial outdoor skating pond built in New York City, complete with modern amenities: night skating, a heated house for changing skates, piped-in music and rink-side dining. Today the Rink is an historic landmark, open seven days a week from October 7, 2006 until early April.
