My Lack of Impulse Control with Smartbargains.com

I am really exhausted today. Too tired to post my usual finds. So I decided to confess my lack of impulse control with Smartbargains.com. My first mistake was signing up for their email. My second mistake was purchasing shoes because without a doubt someone at Smart Bargains has figured me out. It is so sad for me because they always send me just the right email to kick my shoe obsession into overdrive. Hence, I just purchased the most amazing Charles David gray snakeskin pumps. Why? Because I needed them. I did not. But I run home everyday with the hope that the FedEx person has paid me a visit. I have issues. LOL! So this morning, they could not wait to send me a new email (mind you, I just bought those gray shoes on Tuesday) about their new shoe arrivals and look what I found. These are by Isaac Mizrahi, whom I love to death!!! Somebody please stop me.

A Gem of a Healer
The ancient Indian text, Rasa-Jala-Nidhi, states: “Diamond is increaser of longevity. It makes its good qualities felt quickly. It is…curer of all the diseases. It is an enemy of death, and is like nectar itself.(1)”

In Ayurveda, Diamond is the most prized gemstone for its rejuvenating and medicinal qualities. First mined in India more than 2800 years ago(2), Diamonds have been used for centuries for their healing properties. The hardest and most precious of all the gemstones, they are believed to physically strengthen the reproductive system and are said to aid in the treatment of chronic diseases. Indicated for tumors, particularly brain tumors, Diamond has a radiating quality that removes toxins from the body. Known to increase the strength of all remedies it is combined with, Diamond improves the complexion, stabilizes blood pressure, and is credited with increasing passion and sexual desires.

Diamond Mindset
Traditionally seen as a symbol of virtue and invincibility, Diamond is thought to help those with psychological disorders achieve a clear, focused state of mind. Also known to be spiritually uplifting and to boost emotional support, Diamond is thought to increase artistic and creative abilities.

A Little Bit of Light from Anthropologie

I love these lanterns from Anthropologie. As an invitation designer, I haven't really had the opportunity to create something using this wonderful turquoise color. Brides really need to consider breaking away from the usual suspects (lavender, pink, kelly green) when looking for color combinations for their weddings and give this amazing color a try. I would just imagine that these lanterns would look amazing strewn throughout a reception, maybe with orange accents.

What a Man Wants: Wedding Bands from Novell Design Studio

What does a man want? Hopefully, your groom is pretty low-key. If so, then here are some gorgeous wedding band options from Novell Design Studio. I have seen a lot of bands for men and always see the same ol' thing. But these designs are definitely different. Novell can create rings to the your specifications.

Also, Novell recently released a brochure entitled “Choosing the Right Metal for Your Bridal Jewelry.” This brochure is designed to help the average consumer decide which metal will be the best choice for their wedding or engagement ring. You can get this brochure and see their entire jewelry collection, including these wonderful bands on their web site. Here are my favorites (I am partial to platinum but they offer bands in yellow gold):

Alicia Keys Wore It: Naeem Khan

I saw in In Style magazine that Alicia Keys wore this amazing dress by designer, Naeem Khan so I had to investigate what this designer was all about because I adore this dress. Naeem Khan was born in India and was destined to become a designer as he watched his father and grandfather design beautiful attire for the royal family and other socialites. He started his apprenticeship at Halston and took off from there. Here are my to die for favorites from his Spring 2008 Collection and Resort 2008 Collection. Clearly some wonderful wedding dress alternatives. The first one would be my ultimate wedding alternative choice. See all of his work on his web site.

Brides Against Breast Cancer: A Worthy Cause - DC/MD/VA Brides

Ladies,
I received a lovely email from Allison Caudle of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation™ about an amazing event in support of Breast Cancer - the upcoming Brides Against Breast Cancer™ Charity Wedding Gown Sale. This event will take place on March 20, 21, & 22, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Tysons Corner in McLean, Virginia. (www.cptysonscorner.com) DC/MD/VA brides - here's your chance to find your perfect gown while helping someone in need. I have two aunts who are breast cancer survivors and I am sure that I am not the only person who has a loved one who has either survived or lost their battle with breast cancer. Please consider attending this event.

The mission of Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation™ is to grant wishes, including memory-making events, for metastatic breast cancer patients while continuing to support, educate and increase resource awareness. We are dedicated to provide a spark of joy into the lives of women and men who are losing their battle against breast cancer. The tragedy of this illness is not merely the physical and emotional burden, but also the enormous financial strain it places on a family. When insurance benefits are exhausted and medical expenses deplete bank accounts, there is often no money left for special memory-making moments, set apart from the everyday sadness and turmoil of “saying goodbye.”
