In my DC Daily Candy newsletter yesterday, I discovered a great program called Simply Soles. The idea behind Simply Soles is that you shop for fabulous designer shoes. In exchange, you send them a pair of pre-worn closed-toe shoes that will be donated to Suited for Change. Suited for Change is an organization that helps homeless women get back on their feet by providing donated business attire. So it is just a win-win for everyone. Lucky for you, they have a bridal section. Visit their site for more info at Simply Soles. Here are some of a few choices:
After getting a great deal on this lovely beauty above, I noticed that J.Crew had some other bridemaid-worthy dresses on sale! So if you are in a pinch and looking for dresses, stop by the sale at J. Crew. Here are few goodies on sale:
I love shoes. I had the hardest time finding the right shoes for my wedding dress because it was antique gold. But I finally found some. So I know how hard it is to find the right shoes. Filippa Scott has a line of shoes that are beautiful and unique. I love her designs. You can view her entire line at: Filippa Scott.
I came across more unique cake jewelry. Favors You Keep has some selections that I have not seen before. These toppers are adorned with swarovski crystals in clear, aqua, light rose, peridot, amethyst, and light topaz. You can order from them at: Favors You Keep - Cake Jewelry. I was looking through one of my favorite home design magazines when I came across Edible Arrangements and the planner in me thought... what a great idea for a table setting in lieu of flowers. It probably would work best in any season other than summer. But they have some great choices that would give your table an elegant but fresh look. Bonus - It's edible! You can visit their site at: Edible Arrangements. Here are a few of my favorites:
I love the "Hostess with the Mostess" blog (www.hostessblog.com). It is a daily read for me. She posted last week about the Bridal Bar Boutique in LA. It states on their web site that the Bridal Bar "is a boutique that supplies a complimentary peek at the pre-screened best of the best in the wedding industry. The founders have searched high and low to compile an extensive group of event professionals who have been cordially invited to display their works based on style, experience, and impeccable reputation in their fields of expertise." The boutique was started by Harmony Walton, a former editor at Inside Wedding magazine (one of my favorite bridal magazines). She saw a need to educate brides beyond what they could find in the magazine. You can find more information about the Bridal Bar on their web site at: The Bridal Bar.
There are some great options for Cake Toppers. For our wedding cake, we simply used an "H." It was simple and elegant. But if you are looking for something a little more fancy, here are some great ones to choose from. You can find these and more at Favors by Serendipity (www.favorsbyserendipity.com).
I had posted before about J. Crew's perfect bridesmaids dresses. I loved 'em because they come in great colors like yellow, green, and red. But now, J. Crew has released a line of inexpensive wedding dresses and these dresses are lovely. You can get more information on their web site, J.Crew.
I saw this yesterday on advertsing/design goodness blog and I was blown away. As an invitation designer, you have to just appreciate the absolute brilliance of this wedding invitation. He removed the dot over the "I" from "Claire" on the first page to spell "Dave" on the second page. The invitation was created by Chris MacLean, a designer from the UK. You can view his portfolio at: Chris MacLean
