Thanks to Essence magazine, I have been introduced to the icon, Stephen Burrows and he has definitely stopped me in my tracks. He was the first African American fashion designer to achieve international acclaim. Burrows launched a ready-to-wear collection for Bonwit Teller in 1969 and later worked for Henri Bendel.
