Lovely Little Flats: Chinese Laundry

These are too cute. Get yours from Chinese Laundry.

The Sheer Beauty of Augusta Jones

There is much beauty in the Augusta Jones line of wedding dresses. Their style is defined by contemporary clean lines with a twist. The company was started in 1999 by Charlotte Leung. She was born in Denmark to a Danish mother and British Chinese father and she divides her time living and working between London and Hong Kong. Her dresses are magnificent. It was hard to choose between her gorgeous designs but here are my favorites (the second one is my absolute fav):

The Softer Side of Flower Girls: Papo d'Anjo

I really love the see flower girls in a less frou frou dress whenever possible. I think that little girls should look like little girls. Not mini replicas of the bride. So I really love these dainty beauties from Papo d'Anjo.

The Bridal Wishlist Book Review: Party Basics for New Nesters by Maria McBride

Here’s the long awaited book review that I have promised. In our latest review, we take a look at Maria McBride’s new book, Party Basics for New Nesters. Can I just say that I love it! It is not only perfect for newlyweds but it is a wonderful book for anyone. Each book’s chapter focuses on one holiday celebration including New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Labor Day, and believe or not, Earth Day – just to name a few.

The beginning of the book focuses on the basics that you absolutely have to have to pull off the perfect get together. These basics include invitations, flowers, candles, barware, drinks, table settings information, and what to keep in your pantry/frig. Narrowing it down to these simple pieces really helps you to keep it all under control. Otherwise, the idea of throwing a party can quickly become overwhelming.

Once you check the basics off your list, McBride delves right into planning ideas for each holiday party. For example, for your New Year’s Party, she suggests creating caviar shooters! She gives you the recipe and an amazing picture of what it should look like. I love her flower cubes idea in her Spring Fling party section and the mini-aquariums in the Flag Day party section. These are so imaginative. Each section focuses on how to incorporate the basics into your theme party. Not to mention the fact that all of the pictures in the book are gorgeous.

My absolute favorite chapter was the Cinco de Mayo section. I loved everything she suggested. One of the ideas that she suggested was a “chelada.” I had never heard of it but it is a beer spritzer with lime juice and sea salt. The candles in the trees idea is a fantastic idea and looked amazing.

This is a must have for anyone who entertains or wants to entertain on a regular basis. Hats off to Maria McBride for writing a simple yet elegant and stylish book on entertaining. You can pick yours up at any bookstore including Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
